Andrina Wafer is Head of Access and Lifelong Learning in QQI. Current responsibilities include policy development for access, transfer and progression, including supporting progress with regard to the validation of non-formal and informal learning (VNFIL) / RPL nationally. Part of Andrina’s role involves liaison with the ETB sector, with particular emphasis on the implementation of new QQI policies. Andrina is the VNFIL representative at the EQF Advisory Group and is also responsible for IQAVET, the Irish National Reference Point for European Quality Assurance network for VET.
Formerly Andrina worked at senior level in FETAC and the NCVA. Originally trained as a teacher of art, craft and design, Andrina taught for many years in the FET and community and voluntary sectors. Areas of interest include equity and the combating of disadvantage, issues and challenges relating to progression from FET to HE, curriculum and assessment, and learning at the initial levels of the Framework.
